Spring/Garden/Bugs

Happy Friday! This week we continued to learn about gardens and spring time. We also introduced bugs. Bugs come in all shapes and sizes. We brainstormed diverse bugs, insects and how they vary and differ.

"The Greedy Python" was the book we read then each made our own pythons.

Puzzles, counting the correct number of food the caterpillar ate, and finishing the butterfly wing were good concepts for us to think about.

Mat man is a great review of what we need to build letters and numbers. Big lines, little lines, big circles and little circles are all used to make shapes, letters and numbers.

In music we sang songs and used the rainstick.

"The Lonely Firefly" was such a cool book because of what fireflies have. We each made our own firefly with their own light.

"Spilled Milk" was a good book about clouds in the sky. Olivia made a heart cloud.

How many caterpillars are on the leafs? We counted and circled the correct number.

Rhyming matches activity: what rhymes go together?

Calendar: we've been learning the days of the week, months of the year, and saying the date each day to learn the order of the days in a week,

Puppets and patterns were fun!

The question of the day was "What is your favorite insect?"

Rhyming words activity: What words go together?

Bugs, bugs, bugs! We sorted bugs by color and type.
Fish friends worked really hard cutting out bugs for our collage and making flowers.

Making flowers was a following directions activity that we had to do. We tore tissue paper, added glue and paint, then put the tissue paper on. Lastly, we added the stem and leaves.

We read "The Greedy Python" and made our own pythons.

SECOND STEPS: We brainstormed ways to can calm down and wait patiently.

Measuring worms with cubes was our math activity.

We read "The Mixed up Chameleon" and made our own mixed up chameleons.

We used lots of colors to create our chameleon.

SHOW-n-TELL:
Matthew brought in a golf ball and tee, Olivia borrowed a stuffed rabbit and Roman brought his trash truck.

We were very busy spiders making our own spider webs after we read "The Very Busy Spider."

.

"Ants in the Pants" was a tricky game. We had to use our fingers to flip the ants in the pants.

WELCOME BABY JACE!
Ms. Erin and baby Jace are home and doing well!

Have a good weekend!
