winter and arctic animals

Arctic animals were introduced this week along with continued discussion about the season of winter. Olivia and Matthew made arctic animal collages, counted winter items and syllables.

SECOND STEPS: Accidents happen. How can we help when an accident happens? What can we say if we caused the accident? Accidents are something we don't do on purpose.

We wrote a winter book today. Each of us discussed our favorite things about winter.

In music we had turtle tummy time and played the

In math we played mitten memory and number bingo. We practiced using adjectives/vocabulary to describe each mitten and find a match.

Videos of arctic animals were so fun. We looked at how animals are different and the same. We looked at the way the animals get around, what they eat and how they act. We also looked at how they stay warm in the artic.

We read "The Mitten" today. Lots of animals tried to fit in Nicki's snow white mitten that he lost.

"Winter listening" was a skill we worked hard at today. Ms. Erin told us a direction and we had to listen closely and do what she said. Ex: "color the mitten yellow and snowman's nose orange". Some of the instructions were tricky!

Penguins were the craft today. We followed directions on how the penguin should be put together. Fish friends had to tell how to make a penguin using sequencing words such as first, second, third, next, then, last.

In art, we watched a video about scribbles then made our own scribble pictures. We added water colors at the end.

"R" is for rain. We put tiny rain drops on the letter R with clouds.

"Headbanz" was a fun game and color by number was fun. We really took our time coloring the correct colors in the right spots.

.

SCIENCE: We placed ice in 5 cups and predicted what we thought would happen when different substances were put in the cup with the ice.
CUPS: 1) salt 2) flour 3) hot water 4) cold water 5) air
Ask me what made the ice melt the fastest!

Snowy sound bingo was our afternoon game.

Coloring ice and playing with snow and arctic animals were fun! Great find motor practice!

We were Ready to brainstorm R words!
