Body Theme
This week we started learning about the theme "body". We brainstormed parts of our bodies, how they work and looked at different parts of our body in a book.
Floor puzzles were fun on Monday.
The question of the day was "What color eyes do you have?"
This book "Hello World, it's My Body" was a good book about what we do with our bodies.
"Spin the wheel" reinforced the important things we do with our body parts. We talked about how we see with our eyes, we run and walk with our legs, taste with our mouths, etc.
We got to take turns tracing our bodies on big paper and labeled the body parts.
We named, labeled and colored our bodies!
Music class outside was refreshing.
"K" is our letter this week.
We reviewed letters and numbers today in groups.
We matched letters, numbers and traced shapes.
What is too small to see but have the power to make you sick?
GERMS!
"Germs are Not for Sharing" was a good book about germs and how to keep them from spreading. We discussed blowing our nose and washing our hands after we throw the tissue away, and coughing and sneezing in your elbow. Singing the ABC's while we wash our hands with soap and water is the song we should sing to make sure all the germs go away.
In art, the lesson was on how everyone looks different. We have different skin tones, eye colors and hair colors.
We mixed yellow, black and red to white to decide what color matched our skin tone best.
Looking at our eye color in the mirror helped us color our eyes correctly.
The pom pom and light table are always fun also!
Finger print math was a good concept of counting, one to one correspondence and making sure we correctly did the right number of finger prints above the correct number.
Handwriting Without Tears doodle boards were fun! We made letters, numbers, and shapes on them!
The book "Little Red Riding Hood" is our book this week.
Counting snowflakes and coloring the dots in the letter "K" were great skill practice to review our letters.
We colored"K" books, practiced the "K" sound and brainstormed "K" words.
"What kind of hair do you have?" There are lots of types of hair and hair colors. Short hair, spiky hair, long hair, wavy hair, black hair, brown hair, white hair, and medium hair. We took turns asking each other what kind of hair we each had.
The building set blocks and chains fun!
GERMS!
Germs are everywhere. We discussed washing our hands for a long time and all over our hands, cleaning spots that we touch and how germs spread. We watched the video "The Sneeze" and saw how fast germs spread. We took clay to each make our own germs. Some of our germs are bad and some are good. Ask me about my germ.
"Place a sticker on your ______" was a fun game. We took turns being the teacher and told our peers where they should put the sticker on our body.
In centers, we played dress up with people cut outs and played with the doll house.
"K" words were a little tricky to think of but we did it!
Nurse Sarah came in and read "Wash, Wash, Wash" then did a germ experiment with us. She put special fake "germs" on our hands and we had to do a good job of washing them off.
We used a special light to see if we washed all the germs away or not.
Big room's water table is always fun!
Sequencing how to wash our hands was good practice. We practiced words such as scrub, fizzy bubbles, and rinse.
Chains helped us measure our body parts for non-standardized measurement.
It's FriYAY! We counted all the way up to 28!
SHOW-N-TELL: Roman brought a tow truck, Olivia showed a tiger and Matthew brought a black dog.
Puzzle partners was a good brain break. We worked as a team to finish the puzzle.
"Bang" was a fun game -you "bang" the card that we're looking for to practice letters, numbers, and special cards in a deck of cards. . "J" was a our first letter we looked for.
We love playing Zingo!
