Arctic Winter Animals, part 2.
Today, we patterned some winter objects, sorted winter vs. summer items, wrote the alphabet and drew what we thought would be in our mitten.
SECOND STEPS: We discussed accidents, and how sometimes accidents happen and what we should do if there is an accident: ask a friend if they are ok, tell them it was an accident, and offer to help them.
"Winter Bingo" was a fun game. The fish friends took turns being the teacher. They had to pick a picture, give 3 descriptions and the other friends had to guess and then repeat back the clues. Lots of listening!
In math we followed directions and colored the mittens to match each pair. We practice using our vocabulary words such as polka dots, checkered, zig zag, etc
Putting the correct number of marshmallows to match the number on the cup was another math task we did.
We counted all the way up to 14, learned about MLK and how he wanted everyone to be treated equally and discussed how we don't have school Monday to celebrate him.
SHOW-N-TELL: Roman brought a barn, Matthew showed a dinosaur and Olivia brought a Rainbowcorn! We asked lots of good questions with little or no guidance today, way to go!
Hot chocolate, or hot coco mix was fun to make today! We also ice skated around the room on our "ice skates or paper plates".
Friday is game day and we chose to play "Go Fish." Fish friends took turns learning the rules of the game, following whose turn it was, and asking questions to make a match.
Cheers!
We watched lots of ice skating and discussed the details of figure skating vs speed skating. We are ready to watch the Olympics!
"Tacky the Penguin" was a good book about a penguin that didn't act like any other penguin. At first his penguin "companions" found him annoying but then he protected the other penguins from hunters. Ask me what happened in the beginning and at the end.
