Holiday, week 2

"Mr. Willoby's Christmas Tree" was a book about a tree being too tall. There was lots of problem solving that had to happen and each character decided to share the top of the tree with someone else.  It truly emphasized the feelings of giving and receiving. We each made our own tall Mr. Willoby tree after the book!

"What is your favorite Christmas cookie" was our question of the day. Most friends like chocolate chip and gingerbread cookies. They all look really yummy!
Monday morning's activity was building words together.  We really worked our brains or "thinking caps" as the students learned to solve the words.

In journals, we drew how we decorate our homes at the holiday time.

MATH:
Coloring the gingerbread man was a following directions activity. Each of us had different colors to color depending on what the direction was. EX: "If you have a dog, color the nose yellow, if you have a cat color the nose orange."

Cutting and patterning were skills we are getting really good at!

We sequenced how to decorate a Christmas tree.

ART:
The snowy day project was a lot of fun! We painted white snow with a cotton ball on the paper and added glitter and Peter, the little boy who was the main character in the book.

Roll and write was a fun math activity. We had to roll the dice, identify the number and color that part of the snowman or Christmas tree.

It's so nice outside, we thought we were at the beach!

Syllables is a tricky skill we are working hard on. We sorted pictures into the correct number of syllables the word has (1, 2, or 3 syllables).

Matthew made a candy cane out of our wooden letter pieces.

Tree shadow matching and cutting trees were activities we did. We also put the trees in order by size.

Ms. Erin played a tricky game with us. We had to sort pictures into the correct category. Things that are hot, things that are cold, things at the north pole, Christmas decorations, and types of presents. Fish friends had to listen and didn't have picture clues.

"Roll a Christmas tree" was a fun game. We took turns rolling the dice to see what parts of the tree we would get and we built a Christmas tree. We had to count the amount on the dice and match it to a item on our tree.

Ryan and Shawn hid dinosaurs in the sand.

Letter sorting was the activity this afternoon. We sorted "D" and "F" letters and colored the letter D pictures.
