Holiday, week 1
Gingerbread gross motor was fun! We marched, hopped and did squats like the gingerbread man.
In music, we read a Christmas story, played tambourines and practicing marching, galloping, and hopping.
In math we rolled the dice to add 10 ornaments to the tree. We had to figure out how many more ornaments we needed to get to 10.
We decorated the fish room for the holidays! We added garland, a strand of lights, and put our tree up. We each added ornaments but we had to tell Ms. Erin where we wanted to put our ornaments, high, low, on top, in the middle or at the bottom.
The fish friends wrote a story about what they like about Christmas.
Team work made the floor puzzle work!
TUESDAY:
Coloring in the lines was Tuesday's concept.
SECOND STEPS:
Julia got mad because her shirt got wet. The kids laughed at her and thought it was funny and Julia was angry. We discussed how feelings can affect us and how its okay to feel different. We also discussed how it's not nice to laugh or be mean if someone is sad or mad.
We worked on letter sounds. We sounded out the pictures and circled the correct letter. We also matched snowflake letters to the letters that were called out. We brainstormed words that start with that letter and the sounds of each letter. The kids did really well this this!
ART:
We finished our chameleons today by adding colored pieces and tongues. Some friends even added a fly. It's important to understand it's okay to be you. We are each different and thats awesome!
We also played with moon sand and worked together to build a sand castle.
In conversation language, we made Christmas trees. The tricky part was having to build the tree by the length of stripes. The longest stripe of paper would be at the bottom building the tree up with shorter pieces of paper. We added stars, presents, and strands of lights.
Mazes were a good math activity. We have to remember to go slow and watch where we are taking our crayon to be sure we follow the right path and not bump into any walls.
It was nice getting our wiggles out in the gym!
"The Elves and The Shoemaker" was a good book that kept us guessing. We talked about being rich vs being poor and how this affected the shoemaker in the story.
"Dobbing Dots" on the letter D was fun! We discussed how the letter D needs a big line and a big curve.
