THEME: Halloween
Happy Halloween week!
Reminders:
Send costumes in a bag with 12 treats for friends.
No school Monday or Tuesday, Nov. 1 and 2. Enjoy the long weekend.
This morning's question was "Do you have a Halloween costume?" We took turns asking each other if we had a costume and what it will be.
"10 Little Pumpkins" was a cute book that had lots of ideas for carving pumpkins, dressing up and ways to celebrate Halloween.
Ryan, Roman, and Matthew did A-B patterns with fall colors.
In journals we drew what costume we are wearing for Halloween or what we like to dress up as. Matthew will be Captain America. Ryan is going to be a ghost and Roman will be a dinosaur.
In music, we sang and danced to a lot of Halloween songs for a brain break!
In math we brainstormed which 2 are the same (visual discrimination) and played "Whats missing?" to practice vocabulary.
In math we counted buttons on our pumpkins. We had to recognize the number and use one-to-one correspondence.
Morning coloring is always a good way to start the day!
We practiced designing our own monsters, counting monsters, coloring by numbers and pumpkin life cycle sequencing!
In math we had to build our own jack-o-lantern. We each took turns rolling the dice to see what part of the jack o lantern we'd get.
In art, we finished our pumpkin paintings. We added vines and stems with some white chalk for lighting.
Handwriting without Tears: we practiced making various letters with chalk on our chalk boards.
This week we are reading "Monster Mischief". These monsters are making monster stew and get themselves into trouble! This book is great for sequencing and rhyming.
On Monday we did some pumpkin investigation and felt the pumpkin. There is some mold growing inside so we felt the pumpkin and learned how its softened and smelly.
In math we sorted and patterned pumpkins and candy corn.
"Monster Mischief" was our book we reviewed today.
After we read the book we made our own monster stew. Each friend added a halloween spooky item to the stew.
This afternoon we practiced writing "E" and counting the halloween items and circling the right number.
In math we stamped Halloween number books.
In conversational language we practiced trick or treating. Each friend took turns going trick-or-treating and someone else was the person at home. We learned jokes to say and tested them out on each other. The overall goal was to use language and practice manners for our experience on Friday.
We made Halloween collages. We worked really hard and cut out Halloween objects and glued them on our spider webs.
