Thursday and Friday
THURSDAY:
We continued learning all about me and our bodies. We measured each Fish friend to see who was taller, who was the tallest, who was shorter, and the shortest.
Matthew made a cool rainbow pattern tower.
Olivia and Ryan worked together and built a long connecting tower.
We listened to different sounds on the computer and had to guess what sound it was. (listening to environmental sounds)
Ms. Lexi read the book "The 5 Senses". We brainstormed and discussed the 5 senses and what we use our five senses for.
Sound shakers! Ms. Amy made sound shakers to make mystery noises and the students had to guess what they thought was inside. We made predictions as to what we thought was in the shakers. Was it loud, was it quiet, did it sound hard, or soft, etc
Ask me what was in the shakers. (Rice, bells, pompoms, crayons, and coins).
"In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips."
Thursday afternoon we watched Star fall on the letter "L", we talked about what words start with the letter L and the sound /l/ makes. Then we traced our handwriting without tears L pages.
At snack, we brainstormed "L" words.
Today is Friday! We practiced the calendar today by singing the months of the year, days of the week and counting up to 10.
Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, today is Friday, woo!
We are adding in show-n-tell is our Friday schedule. You will receive a note when it is your child's turn to bring show-n-tell. It should be one item that can fit in a bag, no weapons, masks or swords.
At snack we played the game "Headbandz". It was a great game that we had to describe what was on the card to Ms. Erin.
In conversation language, we used our sense of touch and put our hand into the mystery box and guessed what was in the box. Each item felt different. Wet, smooth, dry, hard, soft, bumpy, spiky and long are words we used to describe the items.
In math, we played "what doesn't belong?" and had to take away the object that didn't match the other objects. We used the language: ____ doesn't belong because it isn't (something hot, a pet, a zoo animal, etc) This game also practiced categories.
We each took our cards and placed them correctly in their grouping of 'what goes together'. Categories were "people" "things that are hot" and "farm animals".
Our fish friends were busy building with blocks and legos and playing with magnet people.
Today we sorted L words. We had to look at the pictures and say if they start with the letter L or not.
We used cubes to count syllables. 1, 2, 3, and 4 syllable words
