Monday and Tuesday
This week we introduced the theme "House". We drew our houses in our journals. We had to think about and tell about the color of our houses, how many windows, how many doors, and we added additional details such as trees, flowers, and garages.
We looked at different parts of the house and where furniture items and pieces of the house go. We also asked each other "what color is your house?" and charted what color our houses are.
In music, we played the xylophones and "London bridges falling down".
In math we used paint samples and matched colors together in the game 'Memory' and "Go Fish." We had to be real careful and look for light colors and dark colors (light blue vs dark blue)
Monday afternoon we read "The Napping House".
"H" is our letter this week. We practiced making H's with the sticks and on our chalk boards.
TUESDAY:
Today we met Julia.
We are practicing finding the letter H and practiced cutting different lines with scissors.
Matthew and Ryan made people out of their play dough.
We were happy to find the "H" in the letter search.
The fish room friends introduced "birthday party" today. Ms. Amy and Ms. Erin acted out how to call friends, what to say when calling a friend, and how to invite a friend to the party. We followed the steps of coming to the party, giving a present, singing happy birthday, eating cake, and opening presents. There was some carry over of birthday party play in centers.
Ms. Tara continued her lesson on "dots". We made beautiful pictures.
In math, we worked on our number 2 books. We are working on identifying the amount of 2 and writing the #2. We also practiced opposites: on/off, up/down, dirty/clean, hot/cold, big/little, morning/night, etc
We reviewed and sequenced "The Napping House" this afternoon.
"H"appy faces on the letter H were our phonemic awareness activity today.
